Recognising, nurturing, empowering, and collectively advocating for women's rights is a true reflection of the spirit of Kartini Day.
On this occasion, Tobatenun hosted an intimate gathering entitled Tenun Berdaya (Empowering through Weaving), revisiting the ecosystem of Handweaving and Ulos artisans from North Sumatra while highlighting the vital yet often vulnerable role of women handweavers across the Lake Toba region. The program explored the depth of their creative potential and educational opportunities, whilst underscoring the importance of sustained support in cultivating a resilient and empowered traditional handweaving ecosystem.
